Scotia/ Schenectady Academics and Arts Camp
is an educational enrichment program held for six weeks. Our goal is to provide a safe, fun environment where children can be creative, make friends, and continue to learn throughout the summer. Operating under the philosophy that "a child is not a vase to be filled, but a fire to be lit," SAAC has enriched the lives of thousands of children since its inception in 1963.
Program Highlights
With trained instructors, SAAC campers explore the disciplines of math, science, art, music, computer literacy, and physical education. Campers participate in several classes each day, as well as a recreational period and a 'free choice' period, during which the child can select from a list of activities in the various disciplines, and can choose to spend the entire period at one activity or to move freely to several of the activities.
In addition, every Friday, the entire camp goes on an all-day field trip. We strive to visit places that are both educational and fun for the campers.
This year's educational, entertaining field trips include:
Historic Herkimer Home-
18th century games, cooking, tour
Albany Pine Bush Preserve-
discover this fascinating ecosystem through outdoor/indoor hands on activities.
